Description:

Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A finely cast-bronze dagger with a slender triangular blade. A raised midrib runs down the center of the blade and attaches to a narrow hilt with a relief face on both sides; two noses and ears pointing outward. The hilt is capped with a rounded knob that helps guide the hand to grip with one thumb against the guard for an ideal thrusting or stabbing motion. This dagger is a great example of a Luristan weapon and has developed a rich patina over the ages. Size: 10.62" L x 1.37" W (27 cm x 3.5 cm)

Provenance: private California, USA collection acquired prior to 2005; ex-collection of a British Gentleman
