Description:

Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran to Southeastern Turkey, Luristan culture, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A set of 2 bronze cloak pins cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) technique. Each pin presents with a slender body, a trio of nodules protruding from above recessed ringlets, a compressed spherical body resembling a poppy plant with incised grooves, and a spool-shaped cap. Such elaborate fashion articles were used to fasten the clothes of the ancients prior to the development of fibulae (brooches). Size of largest: 8" L x 1.2" W (20.3 cm x 3 cm)
