Middle East, Iran, Luristan culture, ca. early 1st millennium BCE. Simple yet elegant bronze axe head created by the Luristan peoples. Nice blade that gently curves downward and resolves to cylindrical fitting with a round, almost button-shaped butt pierced in a pattern that mirrors its circumference. The Luristan culture was quite advanced in its bronze casting techniques. Size: 6-1/4"L (~16 cm).
