Middle East, Iran, Luristan culture, ca. late 2nd to early 1st millennium BCE. Large bronze axe head with curved cutting blade flaring down, tapering to cylindrical shaft with four butt spikes. Blade to shaft area adorned with relief design comprised of three stalks of wheat. Wonderfully aged patina! For a similar example see Christies Lot 7, Sale 23908. Price realized $2889.
