Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. An elegant free-blown oinochoe comprised of translucent, yellow-green glass with a concave base and rough pontil scar. The globular body gradually tapers to a slightly-pinched neck base and has a tubular neck, a flared spout with an in-folded rim, and an applied trail handle with a small downwards droop near the top. Brilliant layers of silvery and rainbow iridescence embellish the soft spring color of the body in a palette of ruby, sapphire, amethyst, emerald, citrine, and topaz hues. A beautiful example of fine Roman glasswork! Size: 3.125" W x 5.9" H (7.9 cm x 15 cm).
