Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. late 3rd to 4th century CE. A fine jar with a concave base and rough pontil scar, a globular body with an indented shoulder, and a tall neck with a compressed and flared rim, all free-blown from translucent, pale blue-green glass. A pair of applied trail handles made from deep turquoise-hued glass arch from the rim to the upper body, and a sinuous trail of soft glass winds around the exterior of the body. A beautiful example of fine Roman artistry covered in attractive silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence. Size: 4" W x 4.2" H (10.2 cm x 10.7 cm).
