Description:

Ancient Near East, Luristan, ca. 1000 BCE. This is a cast bronze, socketed spear with a pronounced rib along its triangular spear body. The rib organically becomes the narrow socket. The region of Luristan, which encompasses the rugged Zagros Mountain chain, is famous for its bronze work that was above and beyond the skill level of contemporary groups. This is a fine example of one of their signature weapons. Size: 13.2" L x 1.55" W (33.5 cm x 3.9 cm)

Provenance: Ex - Hovsepian Collection acquired before 1980
