Description:

Ancient Greece, ca. 490 to 480 BCE. A beautiful mold-made ceramic head of a female, perhaps a goddess, with a delicate neckline and an elegant face. The visage is comprised of almond-shaped eyes, a petite nose, smooth cheeks, slender ears with one earring, and an "Archaic smile," all under a neatly-arranged incised coiffure with centrally-parted bangs beneath a roundel-adorned hat. The hollow verso suggests that this was likely a votive object. Custom lucite display stand included. Size: 4" W x 5" H (10.2 cm x 12.7 cm); 7.4" H (18.8 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection; ex-Cahn International AG, Munchenstein, Switzerland; ex-Artemis Gallery; ex-private V. R. collection, Basel, Switzerland
