Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A free-blown, translucent glass bottle of an elegant piriform shape and pale green hues, with two magnificent teal blue-green ribbed trails contouring its form and curling gracefully at the shoulders. Its near-spherical body rises to a tall tubular neck that resolves in a folded rim, and all sits upon a ring base. A stunning example, displaying fine artistry, gorgeous coloration, and marvelous rainbow iridescence. Size: 2.375" W at widest point x 4.25" H (6 cm x 10.8 cm)

  • Condition: Old collection label on base seems to be covering a smoothed pontil mark, indicating that this piece was free blown. Pressure fissures to neck and rim. Normal weathering film. Otherwise excellent with beautiful iridescence of nearly every color of the rainbow.
