Description:

Pre-Columbian, Chancay, modern day Peru, ca. 1200 to 1470 CE. A pair of hand-molded pottery anthropomorphic figures standing on tubular legs. They have short arms painted onto the body, small set lips, a slender nose, and rounded eyes. The male figure has three horns rising from his head and obvious genitalia; the female figure has a projected necklace or possibly a beard under her chin and obvious genitalia. Both are painted with cream and umber pigment. Both come with custom stands. Size of male: 4.2" W x 8" H (10.7 cm x 20.3 cm)

These figures seem to have been made exclusively to be placed into graves, sometimes wrapped in cloth around a body, although their purpose is unknown.
