Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico & Guatemala, Maya culture, ca. 200 BCE to 900 CE; Colombia, Calima culture, ca. 300 CE to 1300 CE. A beautiful and wearable necklace composed of ancient greenstone and gold beads! The 18 stones are pecked and polished into tubular and spherical shapes - the verdant green hues lustrous and semi opaque in some when backlit! Adding balance and symmetry are 8 gold beads, hammered sheets molded into cylinders, that are 65.7% (15K+) gold. At the center is an abstract saurian pendant cast from 46.6% (11K+) gold and copper, with a blocky head and snout. Size of strand: 16.5" L (41.9 cm); gold pendant: 1.3" L x 0.25" W (3.3 cm x 0.6 cm); gold quality: 46.6% to 65.7% (equivalent 11k+ to 15K+)
