Description:

South America, Uruguay or Bolivia, ca. millions of years old. A sizable section of an amethyst geode featuring a prominent beige calcite formation. This natural cluster showcases numerous amethyst crystals growing together on a gray rock base. The crystals exhibit a vibrant purple hue, ranging from deep violet to soft lavender, due to iron impurities and natural irradiation. Each hexagonal crystal culminates in pointed terminations that shimmer in the light. Over time, mineral-rich water flows through rock cavities, causing elements to precipitate and crystallize, initially forming purple amethyst from silicon and iron, and later depositing minerals like calcium carbonate to create the calcite. Size: 11" L x 11" W x 4.5" H (27.9 cm x 27.9 cm x 11.4 cm); 8.6" H (21.8 cm) on included custom stand.
