Description:

Claudio Jimenez Quispe (Peruvian, b. 1959) "Love & Peace." A wooden crucifix covered with sculpted figures and birds made from a plaster mixed with potatoes - the starchy vegetables form a solid medium to paint with tempera once dry. Much of Claudio Jimenez's art reflects his life growing up in political turmoil, however, this is a peaceful sculpture with cupids, and birds building a nest upon roses. The bottom front is signed by the artist and "Lima Peru." Claudio Jimenez is brother to Nicario Jimenez, also an internationally renowned retablo artist. Size: 12" L x 2.5" W x 17.5" H (30.5 cm x 6.4 cm x 44.4 cm)
