Description:

Western Asia and Siberia, Scythian culture, ca. 6th to 5th century BCE. A fine ensemble of nine tapered bronze arrowheads. Eight of the arrowheads have triangular profiles with a trio of vertical ribs protruding out from the sides, and one features an ovoid profile with a pair of laterally protruding fins. Remains of the original iron and lead shaft are present within the socketing holes of the eight three-edged heads, and fine layers of patina envelop all nine examples of ancient Scythian weaponry. Size of largest (two fins): 0.4" W x 1.7" H (1 cm x 4.3 cm)

Provenance: private southern California, USA collection, acquired before 2000; ex-private collection, purportedly found in northern Afghanistan
