Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chimu/Inca, ca. 1100 to 1500 CE. A fine collection of 7 small items from ancient northern Peru. First are a trio of petite bronze bells with spherical bodies and integral ring loops; each has lost its clapper ball. Next are a pair of fine sheet-silver tweezers with triangular suspension loops and hook-shaped bodies. A cast-copper tumi has a wide blade edge and a handle depicting a stylized anthropomorphic figure wearing an elaborate headdress. Last is an ungulate bone amulet with intricately-incised linear motifs rubbed with red cinnabar. Size of largest (tumi): 1" W x 2.125" H (2.5 cm x 5.4 cm).

  • Condition: Slight bending to overall form of tumi and both tweezers, losses to clapper balls within bells, small chips to bone amulet, and softening to finer features on tumi. Light earthen deposits throughout, and nice patina to silver, bronze, and copper objects.
