Description:

Northern Europe, Scandinavia, Viking or Norse culture, ca. 9th to 11th century CE. A wonderful gathering of six forged-iron prick spurs with U-shaped shanks and narrow terminals. Known also as thorn spurs, each spur has a protruding spike along the center of the shank exterior meant to 'prick' a horse into moving. The terminals are decorated with raised exterior motifs and have either a pair of petite rivets or a strap perforation on the interior. Size of largest: 6.125" L x 3.375" W (15.6 cm x 8.6 cm)
