Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A set of 5 mold-formed pottery oil lamps. The largest lamp is made from redware and boasts a soldier running towards the left while a stylized zoomorphic creature lunges towards his neck. The remaining 4 lamps bear circular bodies, 3 with pierced handles, and 1 with raised stippling around the shoulder. Size of largest: 4.53" L x 3.49" W x 1.86" H (11.5 cm x 8.9 cm x 4.7 cm)

Provenance: private Bell Buckle, Tennessee, USA collection, by descent, acquired in Tunisia before 1969
