Latin America, Mexico, Mixtec culture, Pre-Columbian to Post-Conquest Period, ca. 11th to 16th century CE. A set of 5 bronze bells of varying forms, with 3 still retaining their original clappers. Thick layers of naturally-occurring patina in hues of green and brown have formed across the surfaces. Size of largest: 1.05" L x 1.1" W x 3" H (2.7 cm x 2.8 cm x 7.6 cm)

Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s

  • Condition: Two bells are missing their clappers. Light earthen deposits and separation to one suspension loop, otherwise bells are intact and very good. Great patina throughout.
