Description:

Northern Europe, Viking / Norse culture, ca. 800 to 1100 CE. A lovely collection of four cast-bronze belt buckles. One buckle is comprised of a thin ovoid form with two protruding fastening loops, twin-lobed tang holder, and a curved insertion tang with a small fastening bar underneath. Another buckle has a wide duckbill-shaped body with four unevenly-spaced perforations, two fastening prongs underneath, and a miniscule tang. The two remaining buckles have oval-shaped loop ends and slender insertion tangs, with one having two open cavities and the other having three. The first buckle displays a layer of matte gray patina, and the other three have patinas in varying shades of light- and dark-green. Size of largest: 2.3" L (5.8 cm).
