Ancient Near East, Sassanian (also Sasanian, Sassanid) Empire, ca. 2nd to 5th century CE. A fine gathering of 4 hand-carved stone stamp seals from the ancient Sassanian Empire. First is a smaller carnelian example with incised decoration of a bull's head. Next is a petite seal with the portrait of a man, and third is a seal with an abstract or partial image. The largest is a white stone seal with abstract phytomorphic motifs. Size of largest: 1.02" L x 0.88" W x 0.81" H (2.6 cm x 2.2 cm x 2.1 cm)
