Description:

Classical World, Graeco-Roman period, ca. 2nd to 1st century BCE. A fine gathering of four glass beads, each with a suspension hole through the central body. Two of the beads exhibit a palette of vibrant colors which are gently tooled to form linear patterns. One bead has a black-and-white chromatic program that displays gently-feathered patterns. Last is an "eye" bead, so named because of how the colorful concentric circles resemble eyes, with a fragment of the iron strand on which it was originally strung. Size of largest (colorful): 0.875" W x 0.8" H (2.2 cm x 2 cm).
