Description:

Roman, Holy land, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A trio of wheel-thrown terracotta pouring pitchers with applied strap handles. The smallest redware vessel has a petite base, a bulbous body, a narrow neck, and a thin rim. A tall brownware vessel has a wide base, a cylindrical body, and a flared rim. The largest tan buffware vessel has a slight concave base, a spherical body, a narrow neck, and an everted rim. Size (tan buffware): 4.5" W x 6.125" H (11.4 cm x 15.6 cm).

Provenance: private Carlton collection, Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired between 1965 and 1980
