**First Time At Auction**

Roman, Pompeii, early Imperial Period, ca. 1st century CE. A gathering of three painted plaster fragments from large frescos that at one time decorated the city of Pompeii. Two shorter fragments bear dark stippling as well as partial floral and vine motifs. The largest fragment bears a pair of incised circles, separated by a vertical striation, and displaying traces of original blue pigment. Size of largest (incised circles): 5.875" L x 2.8" W (14.9 cm x 7.1 cm).
