Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Bahia, ca. 300 BCE to 500 CE, and Jama Coaque, ca. 500 BCE to 1500 CE. This is a collection of three heads from Ecuador, with each having a distinctive style and cultural lineage. Head 1 is ceramic and shows a human face with heavy jewelry at the ears, chin, and nose and a headdress. The details of the face are clear. Head 2 is ceramic and depicts a monkey head with wide eyes and bared teeth. Head 3, also ceramic, shows a human figure with pierced nose, chin, and ears wearing an elaborate headdress. Each head comes with a wooden mount. Size: first head measures 3" x 3" x 2"; second head measures 2-1/2" x 2" x 2-1/2"; third head measures 3" x 2" x 2". Provenance: Ex-private Mcdonald collection, Houston TX, acquired at local gallery or at auction between 1982 and 1994.   • Condition: Head 1 is mostly intact but missing part of its hairstyle, a small part of one year, and part of the back. Head 2 is intact, with no signs of cracking and repair. There is some wear to the decoration, including a long gouge from the back. Head 3 has some chipping on top of the head and to one of the ears, but the main deteails of the carving remain intact.
