Central America, Panama, San Blas Islands, Kuna/Cuna, second half of the 20th century CE. This is a trio of folk art multi-colored cloth molas created by Kuna women. Molas are cloth panels attached to the fronts and backs of women's blouses that are the cultural dress of Kuna women, along with gold nose rings, beaded arm and leg bands, and patterned wrap-around skirts. This trio includes two birds with a black background, a cat with face turned forward and predominant colors of black, orange, and yellow, and a dog's head and upper body shown from the front; the dog has pointed ears, a long nose, and a many-colored design pattern for its fur. Size: 15.75" W x 10.4" H (40 cm x 26.4 cm).

Provenance: Ex-Kit Kapp collection formed in the very early 1970's. Mr. Katt acquired the world's largest and best documented collection of Molas, with numerous examples being published; ex-Santa Fe Private Collection, Santa Fe, NM
