Pre-Columbian, border Ecuador / Columbian, Narino culture, ca. 800-1500 CE. Three ceramic ollas that display a variety of Narino styling. The largest is a bichrome olla with a substantive globular form, diminutive handles at the neck and four nubbin feet. This vessel features a black on red geometric design achieved via the hallmark Narino negative resist technique. Next, a smaller, nicely potted, round-bottomed Narino olla with geometric designs in red on cream ground. Finally, a near-miniature blackware vessel on a narrow foot. Measurements are for the largest example. 6.50"W x 5.25"H (16.51 W x 13.34 H cm) Provenance: Ex-Moomaw private collection, Englewood, CO. Acquired from South America in 1980.   • Condition: Largest has two chips to rim, a small nick on the exterior wall, and surface wear as shown. Medium red and cream olla has chip to rim and surface wear as shown. Blackware piece has several chips to rim and base and surface wear as shown. All intact and fair to good condition.
