Near East/Western Iran, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 1000 BCE. A beautiful trio of high grade silver (99% silver to be precise) identical equestrian medallions. Each is flat with a round body and a small portion that extends from its round upper body to form semi-triangular protrusion. Each is hammered with a row of small spiked dots and six pointed star or sun pattern in the center. Two small repousse birds are on the triangular portions. Each has a rolled loop at the top for attachment. Imagine how handsome a horse would have looked with these dangling and flashing from his saddle - and how wealthy and powerful his rider would have appeared! Size: 3.4" W x 4.5" H (8.6 cm x 11.4 cm); 49.1 grams each (150 grams total)
