Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Borneo, Kalimantan or Sarawak region, Dayak peoples, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. Three nice examples of hand-carved wooden carving knives known as pisau raut with forged-steel blades. The first knife has an attenuated handle topped with a panel of incised striations and a tapered top element, and the second knife features an (ivory/bone) pommel in the form of an abstract zoomorph. The handle of the tallest knife exhibits a stylized, squatting figure who wears an abstract zoomorphic headdress. Size: 20.9" L (53.1 cm)
