Europe, southern Italy, Naples, ca. 17th century CE. A trio of identical ceramic tiles, each with a glazed, painted surface. These tiles are from an Italian villa in Naples, Italy owned by the Vitelli family of Perugia, who are of Italian royal lineage dating back to the 15th century CE. They are descendants of Vitellozzo Vitelli, an Italian "condottiero" (military leader) who was lord of Montone, Citta di Castello, Monterchi and Anghiari during that period. Size of each: 3.5" W (8.9 cm)

Provenance: private purchase in 2006 from Galleria d’Arte San Francisco, Assisi, Italy
