Pre-Columbian, Panama, Chiriqui, ca. 800 to 1000 CE. A fine gathering of three hand-built pottery vessels from the ancient Chiriqui culture. The smallest is a round-bottomed twin jarlet with flared rims connected by a high-arching handle. The second vessel is a tripod vessel with three loop-form feet, tall walls, and a beige-hued basin accentuated with abstract, red-painted geometric motifs. The largest bowl is highly-burnished, has a round but stable base, squat walls, and a petite rim hanging over the shallow basin, and is accentuated with black-and-white pigment atop a vermilion-hued ground. Size of largest (red bowl): 5.8" W x 2.3" H (14.7 cm x 5.8 cm).

Provenance: ex-private New York, New York, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s
