Pre-Columbian, Central Mexico, Aztec, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. Three obsidian cores from which dozens of micro-blades would have been knapped. Micro blades were used by the ancient Meso-Americans for surgery, warfare, shaving, tanning hides and other mundane uses. These blades were so sharp they exceeded the most modern of surgical steel! Size of largest: 5" H (12.7 cm)

Provenance: Ex-private P. Davis collection via family descent, acquired between 1985 and 1995
