Description:

Pakistan / Baluchistan, Ca 3000 BCE. I will start this one off by making a very disparaging comment about the huge number of "perfect" Indus bulls that are seen on the market. To those, I say BULL! In the 20+ years we have looked at this type of pottery I have seen single digit complete bulls. It is thought most were ceremonially killed before entering the ground. This set of three large fragments is honestly about as complete as most of these come - and I spent hours denuding this group along with another 50 similar. Two bulls are complete save lower legs and horns, other is nearly complete from its midsection forward, missing tips of horns. An honest group of pottery bulls! 3-1/2" for two standing examples.
