Description:

Pre-Columbian, Northern Peru, Moche, ca. 500 to 800 CE; Chancay, ca. 800 to 1300 CE; Inca, ca. 1300 to 1532 CE. A lovely gathering of three hand-built pottery vessels from a trio of distinct ancient Peruvian cultures. First is a bichrome Moche jar with a globular body, a flared spout, and a red-slipped shoulder adorned with several cream-hued spots. Next is a Chancay blackware figural jar with a round but stable base, a spherical body, and raised details denoting a stylized anthropomorphic figure. Last is a slender Inca redware vase with a flared profile and a horizontal register of incised zigzagging motifs. Size of largest (Chancay): 6.25" W x 7" H (15.9 cm x 17.8 cm).

Provenance: private Allison collection, Kent, Washington, USA, inherited in the mid-1970s
