Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Post Classic Maya, Mixtec, ca. 1200 to 1500 CE. A remarkable ensemble of Mixtec personal adornments - five fiber strands of copper round, crotal bells, two fiber strands of cream-hued shells with one petite copper bell, fourteen larger copper bells of teardrop form, one bronze bell, and one fiber strand of white, tubular ceramic beads with three groups of copper bells. Wonderful examples from Mixtec culture set in a lovely modern box for display! Size of box: 14.5" W x 8" H (36.8 cm x 20.3 cm); Size of largest bell: 1.5" W x 2.375" H (3.8 cm x 6 cm); Size of largest jewelry strand: 5.125" L (13 cm)

  • Condition: All show expected surface wear with some fraying to fiber commensurate with age. Some larger bells show misshapen forms, but six are still functional. Otherwise, very nice with rich seafoam and russet patina on copper pieces.
