Europe, France, WWI (1914-1918). Two brass artillery shells transformed into fine art. Each one is meticulously decorated with a pair of doves perched upon leafy branches surrounded by a stippled background. Impressed on the bottom of both is "75 DEC" - the 75 referring to the size of the field casing (75 mm) and the DEC stands for De Campagne or field gun. One has the number 17 referring to the year 1917; the other the number 14 referring to the year 1914. The other marks are batch numbers, manufacturing marks and inspector marks of the artillery shells. 13.50"H (34.29 H cm) Provenance: Ex-Colorado Springs private collection.
