Description:

Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Tairona culture, ca. 1200 to 1500 CE. A pair of charming zoomorphic tumbaga amulets. The smaller is a frog, crouched as if seated and ready to hop, with nicely delineated eyes and mouth as well as forelimbs. The back legs broaden into a wide, flipper-like tail. The larger is of a very similar general outline, although it depicts a fox - posed similarly to a seated frog, with its paws wide and flat and a flat, flipper-like tail divided into two parts. The head is raised, with large ears, bulging eyes, a long snout, and a mouth full of sharp teeth. Size of larger: 2.7" L x 1.95" W x 1.25" H (6.9 cm x 5 cm x 3.2 cm)
