Description:

Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Tairona culture, ca. 800 CE. A fine pair of nearly identical pendants, each skillfully hand-carved in the form of an abstract bat from stone of a deep greenish-grey hue. Both of these lovely sculptures feature lengthy bodies flanked by sizable wings. Petite heads fixed with pointed ears and incised, annular eyes sit at the tops of their bodies, while incised horizontal striations decorate their bottoms. Starburst-like striations adorn their wings, giving the effect that they are fluttering in mid-air. Both are fit with central drill holes for suspension from a necklace or a bracelet. Please note that the Lucite stands are for photography purposes only. Size of largest: 1.125" W x 1.125" H (2.9 cm x 2.9 cm); 1.5" H (3.8 cm) on included custom stand.
