Southern Italy, Daunian Culture, ca. 5th - 4th century BCE. Two terracotta pitcher vessels, with low pedestal bases, wide bodies, single handles, and flared rims. Smaller vessel once slipped in black, larger vessel slipped in red but dominated with firing clouds giving it a black and red appearance. 4"H and 5"H. Provenance: Ex-Byron Farwell Collection, acquired in 1944/45. Both pieces part of a collection published in "The Farwell Collection" (1953), the smaller vessel appearing in figure 20. All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

  • Condition: Surface wear and paint loss. Larger vessel repaired from several pieces with losses.
