Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. This is a pair of small pottery animal figures that would have been placed in West Mexican shaft tombs. One of them is a small pot painted with black slip with three fat, round legs and a small, possibly saurian head on one side. The other is a charming figure of a dog with red pointed ears and nose; his stomach is painted black. Size: These figures are roughly the same size - 3" x 2" (7,6 x 5 cm).

Provenance: Ex-private Hooper collection, California, acquired via family descent.
