Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca to Huari transition period, ca. 600 to 1000 CE. A beautiful pair of bone tools, likely made from llama bones. The first is a thin awl probably used for making the amazing textiles known from this region. The second is a spoon for preparing hallucinogenic drugs, its upper end decorated with incised and stippled abstract decoration. Size of largest: 1" W x 4.4" H (2.5 cm x 11.2 cm)

Provenance: private New Jersey, USA collection, acquired in 1990s from a Rhode Island, USA collection
