** A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit The Fowler Museum at UCLA **Southwestern North America, Chiapas, Mexico and Tesuque Pueblo (New Mexico), early 20th century CE. This is a pair of pottery pieces from the southwestern high desert region of North America. One is a simple bowl with crimped edges and a kind of iridescence to the clay, probably the result of mica in the soil used to make it. The second is a round, hollow clay turkey painted with a floral design and red and black wings. Turkeys are a common source of food in the region. Size of turkey: 7.25" L x 6.9" W x 6.25" H (18.4 cm x 17.5 cm x 15.9 cm); Size of bowl: 7.5" W x 2.6" H (19 cm x 6.6 cm)
