Description:

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador/Colombia, Carchi-Narino region, ca. 750 to 1500 CE. A pair of ceramic bowls made for domestic use, each with a deep, conical bowl and a small, flaring disc foot. The interiors of both are painted with deep red geometric motifs against a warm cream-colored background. If you look closely, you can see that there are white motifs painted alongside the red that have faded with time. Size of one (they are similar in size): 8.2" W x 3.45" H (20.8 cm x 8.8 cm)

Provenance: ex-private D. Jeppesen collection, Oregon, USA, acquired before 1982
