Description:

Pre-Columbian, Belize, Classic Maya Period, ca. 550 to 950 CE. A pair of handsome mottled grey, cream, and red-brown chert macroblade "daggers" - items famous from the Maya site of Cuello in northern Belize and found at several archaeological sites throughout southern Mesoamerica and the Caribbean, including at Tikal. Although they are sometimes called "daggers", they are only found in ritual deposits, and their form suggests a ceremonial purpose rather than an actual tool. Size of darker one (they are very similar in size): 2.45" W x 7.5" H (6.2 cm x 19 cm)
