Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A fine pair of hand-built pottery figures standing with bowed legs and presenting vibrant red-slip details. First is a nude male wearing only a broad sash and large earspools while holding both arms to his waist. The larger female figure crosses stocky arms atop her chest and wears a knee-length skirt with several dangling tassels. Both figures have coffee-bean-shaped eyes and prominent noses displayed beneath nodule-adorned caps. Lucite display stands for photography purposes only. Size of largest (female): 1.9" W x 5.4" H (4.8 cm x 13.7 cm)
