Magna Graecia, ca. 4th century BCE - 3rd century BCE. Nice pair of tall, thin spindle jars, once holding precious unguents or perfume. Thinner example is greyware and was mounted on an old Roman paving tile found in Ankara. Measurements for larger jar. 8.63"W x 3.25"H (21.91 W x 8.26 H cm) Provenance: Ex-Private collection of William Dale, a career diplomat stationed in Turkey in the early 1960's, who acquired a vast collection of Greek, Roman and Near-Eastern treasures during his tenure.
