Ancient Greece, Hellenistic Period, ca. 4th to 1st century BCE. A fine gathering of three wheel-thrown pottery vessels from Hellenistic-era Greece. First is a slender spindle jar - used for holding scented oils - with an inverted piriform body and an everted rim. Second is a set of two utilitarian bowls with squat feet, expanding walls, thick rims, and shallow basins. Size of largest (bowl): 9.125" Diameter x 2.9" H (23.2 cm x 7.4 cm)

  • Condition: Restoration to area of rim of smaller bowl, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Larger bowl has one stable hairline fissure. All items have minor nicks and abrasions to rims and bodies, with light encrustations; larger bowl and spindle jar are intact and very good. All items have nice earthen deposits throughout. Both bowls have numbers written on exterior surfaces.
