Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Guanajuato River Valley, ca. 500 to 300 BCE. This pair of bowls shows the stylings of the early Chupicuaro culture. The larger bowl rests on three rattle feet formed to resemble native fruits that also produce percussive sounds. The smaller piece was created to resemble a canoe, boat-like form.   • Condition: Canoe form shows normal surface wear. Intact and excellent to near choice. Larger bowl on fruit legs has tiny chip on inside rim. Else intact, rattles work, and excellent to near choice condition as well.
