Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Guanacaste/Nicoya region, ca. 200 to 600 CE. A lovely gathering of two petite figurative celt pendants, each hand-carved from mottled green-hued stone with light and dark inclusions. The shorter pendant has a slender celt body, a biconically-drilled suspension hole, and an abstract avian head with recessed eyes and a tapered beak. The taller pendant has a wide celt-form lower body beneath an abstract anthropomorphic figure with a biconically-drilled suspension hole situated through the back of the neck. Size of largest (anthropomorphic figure): 0.875" W x 2.75" H (2.2 cm x 7 cm).

  • Condition: Taller figure has small nicks to top of head. Shorter figure has been repaired from a few large pieces, with a small area of restoration along verso. Both figures have minor abrasions and nicks to celts and bodies, with softening to some finer details, and light encrustations. Light earthen deposits throughout.
