Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chimu/Inca culture, ca. 1100 to 1400 CE. A fine set of bowls fashioned from the bases of two dried gourds and decorated with pyro-engraved embellishments. Each bowl boasts broad rectangular sections of linear and geometric motifs, and each displays a pair of abstract crustaceans which resemble shrimp or crawfish. Size: 5.9" W x 1.75" H (15 cm x 4.4 cm).

Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s
