Native American, United, States, Florida, Collier County, southeastern corner of Marco Island, Glades culture / Calusa peoples, Early Archaic to Mississippian Period, ca. 7500 BCE to 1200 CE (9,500 to 800 BP). A stunning collection of 15 handcrafted stone, fish bone, and shell artifacts, consisting of a fish bone awl, three fish vertebrae beads, five stone weights, two fish bone tools, two stone points, a shell pendant, and an Olivia shell bead. The hand-knapped arrowheads both present triangular forms, but different types; the one with the side notch is known as a Bolen point, while other with the expanding stem is known as Broward. Size of largest: 1.125" W x 2.375" H (2.9 cm x 6 cm); Size of frame: 8.5" W x 10.5" H (21.6 cm x 26.7 cm)

  • Condition: Mounted in a modern wooden and glass case. Loss to stem of one arrowhead and chip to tip of another. Nicks/chips and abrasions on all, commensurate with age and use. Otherwise, very nice with light earthen deposits.
